About Dylan

Dylan R. Cohon is one of Washington's leading medical malpractice trial attorneys. He has extensive experience handling virtually every type of medical malpractice case, including those resulting in catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and birth injuries. In 2026, Dylan secured a $24 million jury verdict in King County Superior Court, one of several eight-figure recoveries he has obtained for his clients.

Before joining Swanson Gardner Meyers Cohon, PLLC (SGMC), in 2019, Dylan was a senior partner at a prominent defense firm, where he represented many of the Seattle area's major hospitals. During his years as a defense attorney, Dylan gained valuable insight into how hospitals, insurance companies, and their legal teams evaluate and defend medical malpractice claims. This experience has proven to be a significant asset in his current practice, allowing him to anticipate defense strategies and advocate more effectively for injured patients and their families. Since joining SGMC, Dylan has helped his clients recover well over $100 million in compensation.

Professional Recognition

For 11 consecutive years, Dylan has been recognized by Washington Super Lawyers. From 2016 through 2022, he was selected as a Rising Star, a distinction limited to the top 2.5% of attorneys in the state. Since 2023, he has been recognized as a Super Lawyer. The National Trial Lawyers has also honored Dylan with its "40 Under 40" recognition, awarded to select attorneys under the age of 40 who have demonstrated outstanding ability. He is also an Eagle member of the Washington State Association for Justice.

Dylan is frequently invited to speak at legal seminars on medical malpractice litigation and trial practice. His speaking experience dates back to his years as a defense attorney, when he routinely presented at hospital grand rounds and other professional seminars.

Education & Community Involvement

Dylan graduated magna cum laude from Western Washington University and earned his Juris Doctor from Willamette University. He is a member of the Washington State and King County Bar Associations and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Outside the office, Dylan has served in leadership roles on nonprofit boards and remains actively involved in charitable and community organizations throughout the Seattle area. Above all, he enjoys spending time with his wife and college sweetheart, Kristen, and their two daughters. Much of his free time is spent cheering on his daughters in their academic and athletic activities, or playing tennis himself. The Cohon household also includes two dogs and a flock of backyard chickens.
